This is the greatest and best pickup move I've ever heard, and I had to share it with you.

"Friday night at Gallery on the lower East Side, TV and movie star Zack Braff sent a friend over to tell a blonde friend of ours that she had a "hot bod."

Denied."

Wow. I'm not sure what's more sad, the fact that the best he could come up with was "hot bod," or having someone else deliver the lame line for you. I mean, seriously, you're a TV star! You'd think you'd have something better than the same kind of stuff kids pull in middle school.

Too bad he didn't have his buddy pass her a note saying "if someone liked you, would you like that someone?  Check Yes or No."

Actually, I think that would work a little better. At least he'd get points for creativity.

Sad truth is I hear stories like this all the time.  I've talked to famous guys. Hell, I've even coached a few of them. And one thing that's way more common than you'd ever realize is that ALL guys, no matter how rich or famous, fear rejection more than anything.

And for some of the famous ones, they fear it so much they don't even bother risking it anymore. Instead, they just have members of their entourage take the chance for them.

Now what the hell is attractive about that? I mean, how is that any better than the cliche of the construction worker wolf-whistling as a hottie passes by? No balls, no courage, no nothing. I mean, he's basically telling the girl she's not even attractive enough for him to get off his lazy ass and go talk to her himself. He'd put more work into ordering takeout than he did into trying to pick her up.

And I'll tell you, women see through this stuff every single time. You've got to take a chance to get anything good in life.

Let's reverse the situation. Let's say you had some great market value. Let's say you were the guy who created "Grand Theft Auto," and word got out that you were looking for a new company to create games for.

Two CEOs decide they are really interested in you.

One of them goes out of their way to come talk to you.  He greets you with a smile and a handshake, and gets you smiling right away with some genuine appreciation.  He talks to you and listen to what you have to say. He understands your real value beyond what anyone else sees. He can relate to your dreams, and you find you even have a lot in common.

The other one sends a flunky over to tell you, "nice code."

Quick! Which job do you take?

Of course you know the answer. We are all attracted to people who take a chance to get to know us, and take the time to find ways to appreciate us in ways that most people don't really get. We want to be valued, understood, and feel there's a reason why certain people are in our lives.

We do not want to be taken at face value, treated like just an object, and left feeling like we don't even deserve the common courtesy of a real conversation.

So what makes us different than the hottie at the bar?

Nothing. Despite what some may try to tell you, we are all, men and women, basically the same at heart. We are attracted to people who take a real risk to get to know us, and we do not have time for those that don't make any effort.

You, my friend, can do better than the rich and famous. 

You can take a chance.

You can make an effort.
